Lucca is
a beautiful medieval/roman town in the north of Tuscany.
One of its most prominent features is the stunning tree
lined wall that surounds it. Completed in 1650, it stands
at 12 metres high with a system of large vaulted rooms and
courtyards underneath, once used for for ammunition.
The
surrounding countryside is one of lush green hills dotted
with farm houses and villages. Church towers rise from the
valleys below. The rich colours of red, ochre, green and
rust, create a warmth and beauty which mirrors the warmth of the italian
people themselves.
